[Event Report] Sony Park Exhibition 2025 ~the world of JPOP artisits~
Last month, I went to the event space called “Ginza Sony Park”, located near Ginza station. In this journal, I would like to delve deeper into the fascinating aspects of this event space.
Overview of Ginza Sony Park
From 2018 to 2021, Ginza Sony Park brought a new rhythm to the streets of Ginza.
After nearly three years of construction, the new Ginza Sony Park has finally celebrated its grand reopening, kicking off with its first program, “Sony Park Exhibition 2025.”
“Sony Park Exhibition 2025” explores six key fields that Sony is engaged in—“Music,” “Semiconductors,” “Finance,” “Gaming,” “Entertainment Technology,” and “Film.” Each field is transformed into a unique theme: “Journey,” “Sci-Fi,” “Poetry,” “Social Hub,” “Street,” and “Forest.”
Together with six artists, Ginza Sony Park challenges itself to create an innovative and immersive program.
This time, I attended the Part 1: exhibition covering three Sony artists: Hitsujibungaku, Yoasobi and Vaundy. In this journal, I will dive into each exhibition and discuss my most favorite exhibition at the end.

Vaundy

In Vaundy’s program, themed “Music is a Journey,” an immersive “Music Stratum” space curated by Vaundy emerges on B2 of Ginza Sony Park.
Under the concept of “The Ambiguous Strata of My Soul,” Vaundy has carefully selected around 200 songs, layering them to form a unique “stratum of music.”
Visitors can explore this space with headphones in hand, discovering and “excavating” music as they journey through the accumulated layers of sound. This experience transcends genres and eras, allowing participants to immerse themselves in a one-of-a-kind musical exploration.
Yoasobi

YOASOBI’s program, themed “Semiconductors are Sci-Fi,” presents “HEART BEAT: Resonance,” an interactive musical experience featuring their song “HEART BEAT”.
This song was created around the theme of “heartbeat,” incorporating messages, writings, and performance videos submitted by 18-year-olds from across Japan. It was then developed into an original story and transformed into an energetic anthem in collaboration with 1,000 young participants who contributed to the final recording. Inspired by the collective choir performance from the festival, this exhibition brings that participatory experience to visitors.
At the core of this program is the “heartbeat” motif. Each visitor’s heartbeat is sensed and transformed into a “heartbeat object,” allowing their heart rhythm to resonate with those of YOASOBI and other attendees. Special elements enhance the experience, including:
- Heartbeat objects of YOASOBI’s Ayase and ikura appearing within the installation.
- A “Haptic Floor” that vibrates in response to the movement of visitors and their heartbeat objects, creating a tactile dimension to the music.
Additionally, visitors can download their personalized heartbeat object to their smartphones, making this a truly immersive and unique musical experience.
Hitsujibungaku

Hitsujibungaku’s program, themed “Finance is Poetry,” transforms the 4th floor of Ginza Sony Park into a serene and immersive space centered around a large water basin.
The main installation, “Floating Words,” highlights the lyrics of Hitsujibungaku’s songs, blending music, water, and light to create a poetic and dreamlike experience. Visitors can immerse themselves in the lyrical world of the band, as words float and dissolve on the surface of the water, accompanied by ethereal visual projections.
Guided by the specially recorded voice of Moeka Shiotsuka, visitors are drawn deeper into the band’s artistic vision. The ambient soundscape features Hitsujibungaku’s songs “more than words” and “Hikaru Toki,” resonating through the space as the shimmering water reflects the changing emotions of the music.
Adding to the sensory experience, visitors can interact with Sony’s Haptics Technology (“Active Slate”)—a floor system designed to replicate the sensation of walking along a waterfront. This allows guests to feel the ripples of the water beneath their feet, enhancing the poetic and introspective nature of the exhibition.
My most favorite exhibition…
I enjoyed the exhibition of Vaundy the best because I was able to discover new artists from the playlists in the room. My favorite was “Love Theory” by Kirk Franklin, “Virtual Insanity” by Jamiroquai, “Modern Love” by David Bowie and “Way with words” by Bahamas.
In conclusion
I was able to learn more about the above 3 artists and also discover new artists from many different genres. I am excited to attend Part 2 happening in mid-April of this year having Baby Monster, Creepy Nuts, and Ushio Kensuke.
