Music festivals aren’t just for summer! Popular “Spring Music Festival” feature

2020.05.09

Hello!
I am Yamadaira, who loves music.

When you hear the word “music festival,” what images come to mind?

The scorching sunshine and resounding rock… it probably conjures up images of a “summer music festival”, doesn’t it?

Just looking at the announcements and advertisements for summer music festivals sounds like a lot of fun, doesn’t it!

However, you may be worried that you won’t be able to hold your strength in the heat, or that you will become dehydrated.
There must be a lot of people who want to go, but don’t have the courage to go.

I have good news for you.

Actually… it’s not just summer.

That’s right, just like the summer festivals, there are a lot of really hot festivals going on in May and June!

In this article, we’ll be introducing many of our favorite spring festivals!

VIVA LA ROCK.

VIVA LA ROCK” is held at Saitama Super Arena every year in Golden Week!

The best feature of the event is that it is held indoors.

The image of a music festival is that it’s outdoors, but there are many points that will make you happy if you’re a beginner at a festival, such as being able to watch live music while sitting on a chair, not having to worry about sunburn or rain and clean toilets…

There is also a free stage and kids’ space outdoors, making it an easy place for families to come and play.

Also, since the two main stages are so close together, you’ll be able to see a wide variety of artists even if you’re in the same seat!

JAPAN JAM

The same event is held every year during Golden Week at Soga Sports Park in Chiba City.

It is planned and produced by the Rocking On Group, which has held some of Japan’s leading rock festivals such as ROCK IN JAPAN and COUNTDOWN JAPAN.

As a result, you can see a wide range of live performances from famous artists on TV to core bands that you can only see at live performances.

It’s also very easy to get to from the train station, which is unusual for an outdoor area!

LOVE SUPREME JAZZ FESTIVAL JAPAN

It’s not just the Rock. There’s also a jazz spring festival.

The “LOVE SUPREME JAZZ FESTIVAL JAPAN” was held in Toyosu, Tokyo. It’s the first time it’s landed in Japan this year!

I’m excited about it too…!

This festival is the Japanese version of Europe’s largest jazz festival, which has been held in the UK every July since 2013.

Jazz, soul, funk, and other sophisticated music!

The appeal of a festival is that you can come into contact with music that you don’t often have the opportunity to come into contact with.
“Japan’s First” is only available this year, so you’ll definitely want to experience it!

GLaSSY MUSIC

GLaSSY MUSIC will be held in Fukuoka with the theme of “Let’s go with the whole family! A music festival in the city! is the keyword of this music festival.

This festival is free admission!
The ticket price for a big festival is 10,000 yen per day, so it’s a great deal.

In addition, to live artists, there’s a skateboard park, surfboards and art exhibits to keep the whole family entertained, as well as a variety of sports and cultural activities!

Woods, roads, markets.

This is a popular festival held in Aichi, Japan.

Forest, road, market…it doesn’t sound like a festival at all, does it?

This festival is held at Laguna Beach and Lagunasia, an amusement park called “the theme park of the sea”, and a lot of buzzworthy artists have performed there.

The most distinctive thing is the “market”!

The food at this festival, where you can enjoy delicious food, is one of the best parts of the festival, and there are more than 500 shops here. It’s already a gourmet festival.

It’s rare to see so many delicious food and wonderful items from all over Japan at a festival like this!

METROPOLITAN ROCK FESTIVAL

The “METROPOLITAN ROCK FESTIVAL” is commonly known as “METROCK” held in two major cities of Tokyo and Osaka.

Although there are two venues, there are many artists who are only available in Tokyo and Osaka.

The other point of METROCK is that you can watch it live on Abema TV!

If you think “I want to go, but it’s honestly too hard to go,” you can watch the live performance in real time and experience the excitement with us.
If you’re curious about what kind of festival it is, it’s great to be able to get a feel for the atmosphere of the festival live!

GREENROOM FESTIVAL

GREENROOM FESTIVAL” can be said to be a representative of the fashion festival held at Yokohama Red Brick.

With the key concept of “Save The Beach, Save The Ocean”, you can experience music and art rooted in surf and beach culture.

The venue, the Red Brick Warehouse, has a stylish cityscape!
This stylishness is unmatched by any other venue.
Everywhere you look, you’ll find a tropical beach-like space where you can enjoy music with a beer in your hand.

Hibiya Music Festival

Hibiya Music Festival is a free, borderless music festival held in Hibiya Park, where anyone can participate.
The first edition of 2019 is a popular music festival that drew nearly 100,000 people over two days.

The Hibiya Music Festival is funded by crowdfunding, so the participation fee is [free].
It’s great that it’s free at a festival in the middle of the city with famous artists!

In addition to music, Hibiya Park’s various facilities offer a variety of workshops, talk shows, musical instrument experiences, and other activities for the non-music-obsessed.

YATSUI FESTIVAL

YATSUI FESTIVAL” is a festival held in Shibuya, a town of young people, organized by Electric Comic and Ichiro Tsuki.

What makes this festival unique is that it is a “city tour” type.
Rather than renting out all of the big venues like other festivals, the event will be held in conjunction with 13 venues in Shibuya. As a result, there are more than 300 couples participating in one day and a wide variety of genres.

Music, comedy, musicians, idols, cultural figures…each venue offers completely different contents.
It’s a festival where you can enjoy the crowded atmosphere that is typical of Shibuya, a town of young people!

It may be tough to hold this year’s event in Corona, but…
Have you found a spring music festival you want to go to for next year?

If you look at it this way, you can see that there are quite a few festivals scheduled to be held in the Kanto area alone. Whether you’re going to a festival in your favorite genre, or you’re taking the whole family to one of these free festivals to help you prepare for the summer music festival.

Be sure to keep an eye out for spring festivals, not just summer ones!

Believe in a bright future.
Music is one of those things that sticks to human emotions, and by putting it into a real event, people who don’t know each other are raising their hands to the same stage. I think this is what makes a music festival so good.

Right now, it’s difficult to attend these events, let alone hold them because of Corona. In a world where we are not allowed to gather, the sense of freedom that we could have originally experienced may have become a little distant now.

However, because I was at home in Corona, I was able to reevaluate the fact that the event that I used to come to every year as a matter, of course, was no longer the norm, and I was able to experience a special feeling that came only once a year, a feeling that could only be experienced in the real world.

I would like to conclude by saying that I believe that one day all the people who love music will come together and enjoy music together in the venue.
