Changing the World Starts Beneath Our Feet: World Cleanup Day 2025 Report

Last Update | 2025.11.19 SUSTAINABILITY

On Friday, September 19th, GLOBAL PRODUCE carried out a cleanup around the office area (Shibuya–Omotesando). While we have participated in World Cleanup Day—an initiative involving more than 20 million volunteers across approximately 200 countries—as a supporting partner, this year we took a new approach, uniting the entire company under the concept of “Changing the world from the ground beneath our feet.”

What is World Cleanup Day?

World Cleanup Day is an annual global initiative to “clean the world together,” centered around the UN International Day on September 20. Simultaneous cleanups take place around the world. GP has been a supporter and partner of this movement since 2023, participating every year with the mindset of “Think Global, Act Locally.”

Putting It into Practice: Cleaning Up Around the Office

For this year’s cleanup, GP members were divided into teams and assigned different areas to collect litter.

But cleanup doesn’t end at “picking up trash.” The disposal of collected waste poses another major challenge. To address this, our teams practiced “sorting as we collect.” For the final disposal, we received valuable support from the Aoyama Oval Building, where our office is located. (A sincere thank you to everyone at Aoyama Oval Building!)

Although the cleanup itself lasted only about 30 minutes, conducted along main streets and stylish retail areas, we still collected a surprisingly large amount of waste.

Why Focus on “Our Immediate Surroundings”?

Aside from a few members who were unavailable, nearly the entire company participated in this initiative.
As an event production company, our mission is to move people’s hearts through the experiences we create. That is exactly why valuing the “closest place”—our daily environment—becomes a message that reaches society. Thirty minutes may be short, but a company that consistently dedicates that time sends a powerful signal.

Our goal is to transform cleanup from “just picking up trash” into a hands-on sustainability experience. It builds a sense of unity, sparks awareness, and becomes a small success that leads to the next action. That intention is what led to such widespread participation among our members.

The “Bring Happiness Project” and Our Four Core Pillars

To explore how an event production company can contribute to sustainable development, GP launched the “Bring Happiness Project,” promoting a variety of SDGs-aligned initiatives.
Among them, we place special emphasis on the following four pillars:

  • Thinking Together: What can we do in our immediate environment?
  • Reducing construction waste from event production
  • Transitioning to cleaner energy
  • SDGs Goal 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth

These four pillars serve as a compass to “learn as we act.” After each event, we conduct sustainability reviews to ensure continuous improvement.

Practical Applications in Our Office and Event Operations

Under these pillars, GP promotes cleaner energy within our office, enforces strict waste separation, and encourages reuse—all habits strengthened through daily practice.
On the event side, we support renewable energy certificates, propose sustainable venues and décor solutions (such as tension fabric and paper-based materials), and even curate sustainable food options. In every detail of our operations, we strive to weave sustainability into the event experience.

In Closing

With “small starts” as our motto, we continue to move forward one step at a time. Small actions can shift the atmosphere of a workplace, change a neighborhood, and ultimately transform society.

WCD is a doorway to co-creation—a hub where companies, communities, and citizens connect.
We will continue building on this experience, step by step, starting right here in the Shibuya–Omotesando area.

The texts we see or deliver on a daily basis serve as a “gateway to connection” and reflect the very essence of a person or company. Just one way of expression can change everything. With a sense of both the excitement and responsibility that comes with this, we will continue to do our utmost to contribute to the future of event production that GP aspires to achieve.
