Compete With Extinct Ancient Creatures! A Glimpse into the Future of XR Racing Games

Have you heard the rumors about a battle game where long-extinct ancient creatures float in the air and compete with each other? Today, we’ll be introducing a new kind of XR racing game that you can enjoy with newly developed XR glasses!
A racing game featuring extinct animals?
Curiosity Inc., in collaboration with NTT QONOQ, has been developing a high-performance XR headset. The exclusive game made for these XR glasses was created with a sci-fi feel, and it looks incredibly fun!
In this game, named “LAP CUP,” players control extinct animals that no longer exist in the world. And here’s the crazy part—these animals float in mid-air! When watching the gameplay footage, you’ll see people cheering joyfully as these extinct animals race through the sky.
Sounds intriguing, right? Don’t worry—I’ll explain exactly how it works in just a bit.
What are the high-performance XR glasses “MiRZA”?
MiRZA is an XR headset developed by Curiosity Inc. and NTT QONOQ. This device is lightweight and glasses-shaped, designed to connect wirelessly to a smartphone equipped with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon® AR2 Gen 1 chipset.
With MiRZA, you don’t need to pull out your device every other second—you can receive real-time, hands-free information. Not only does it display invisible data like health and environmental conditions, but it also allows you to freely arrange content in mid-air, finally making the futuristic lifestyle we’ve long dreamed of a reality!
On top of that, since everything from planning to manufacturing is done domestically, MiRZA is a truly Japan-made XR device—definitely a product worth supporting.
New experiences in “LOST ANIMAL PLANET” with MiRZA

With MiRZA, LOST ANIMAL PLANET brings an entirely new way to play games that has never been experienced before.
This XR racing game is an expanded version of “XR City – LOST ANIMAL PLANET,” a smartphone app by QONOQ, featuring extinct creatures.
The combination of MiRZA’s 3D display and hand-tracking technology delivers an unparalleled immersive experience, taking the game’s enjoyability to the next level!
You can cheer by waving your hands! A new racing experience

In LAP CUP, prehistoric creatures float through a futuristic XR course as they race against each other.
And here’s the fun part—players can cheer on their chosen animal by waving their hands! However, cheering too much can tire out your animal, counterproductively slowing them down. The key to victory is timing your support wisely!
Watch out for sharp turns! The dangerous “Blast Zone”
Some sharp turns have “Acceleration Warning” markers displayed on the track. In these areas, cheering too much will cause the animal to accelerate too quickly and fall off the course! Players need to carefully adjust their support in order to avoid crashes as well.
Boost indefinitely with the “Rush Fruit”!

Scattered along the course are special items called “Rush Fruits.” When an animal eats a Rush Fruit, it gains temporarily increased acceleration without getting tired. By strategically using this item, players can make a last-minute comeback and aim for first place!
Exciting 4-player battle mode!
LAP CUP supports up to 4 players in multiplayer mode, letting friends race against each other for the ultimate bragging rights! For solo players, there’s also a single-player mode where you can compete against AI opponents at your own pace.
A unique third-person view for spectators

Even those without XR glasses can still watch the race from a third-person perspective! This exclusive “Spectator View” system allows non-players to watch and cheer for the racers in real-time. With this feature, live race commentary and event broadcasting become possible, making it an excellent option for esports and entertainment events!
Conclusion
Today, we took a look at LAP CUP: a futuristic XR racing game where extinct creatures compete in mid-air!
But even beyond the game, I’m also blown away by the fact that we’re now entering an era where even gaming is becoming hands-free.
As entertainment keeps evolving at an astonishing pace, staying updated with the latest immersive content is a must. Now then, see you next time!
