From Embracing the Philosophy to Putting It into Practice. An All-Employee Meeting That Inspires Every Employee to Take Their Own “First Step.”

Could you tell us about the background behind holding this event?
This was the fourth time we held this event for all employees. From the start, the overarching purpose of this company-wide meeting has always been to explain and further understand TORIDOLL’s mission, vision, slogan, philosophy, and other core principles, while the specific theme changes from year to year.
Beginning with the main slogan of the first event in 2022, “Fill our planet with KANDO dining experiences that will move you,” the event has gone through various evolutions. Since 2024, we have used the term “HAPI-KAN (Happiness + KANDO)”—with “KANDO” being derived from the Japanese characters 感動 to describe something emotionally moving—and worked to embed this philosophy into past events, including our all-employee meetings. This year, our goal was to develop HAPI-KAN Captains who would bring this philosophy to life at each store and workplace.

What kinds of feelings or changes did you hope to inspire among participants through this event?
We wanted every employee to develop their own sense of “I want to give this a try!” or “I’ll start by doing what I can from tomorrow onward!” and to inspire a behavioral change that would encourage them to take their first step toward putting HAPI-KAN into action starting the very next day. For that reason, while our primary objective from last year up until now had been to deepen understanding of the philosophy, this time we designed the event with the additional goal of encouraging participants to actually put it into practice.

What were the key points you prioritized in considering an event production company?
We wanted a company that would not simply see the company-wide meeting as a “meeting,” but would think carefully about how to make the experience resonate with participants and remain with them afterward. We were looking for a company with the expressive and creative capabilities to develop immersive content and staging that would allow participants to relate what they experienced to themselves personally.
We also considered factors such as whether the company had experience producing events on a similar scale, our impression of the people who would be in charge—including their flexibility and responsiveness—and the balance between cost and quality in their proposal.

With several options being available, what made you decide to consult with and ultimately choose GLOBAL PRODUCE?
It was the combination of proven experience + the ability to express what makes TORIDOLL unique + the passion of the team members in charge + cost + quality. In particular, the proactive and positive attitude of the team members in charge was outstanding. The deciding factor was that we felt they understood our values and could work together with us to create a truly special experience for our participants.
As you moved forward with the planning and preparation, was there anything about GP’s proposals or project management that stood out to you?
What stood out was that everyone at GP was not just trying to make the event successful; they genuinely made an effort to deeply understand “HAPI-KAN” and “What kind of company TORIDOLL aspires to be.” At every planning meeting, they asked us fundamental questions such as, “What meaning does this have?” and “What emotions do you want participants to feel?”
Thanks to this approach, I feel that we were able to create an experience together that was not simply visually impressive, but one that every participant could personally connect with and take to heart.

What were some of the challenges you faced during the preparation process, and were there any aspects of GP’s response or approach that were particularly helpful or reassuring?
This all-employee meeting was an event involving several thousand participants, as well as many different brands and departments, so one of the biggest challenges was organizing information while maintaining the necessary speed of decision-making. In that environment, GP worked alongside us as more than an event production company, almost like a project manager.
They responded flexibly even when our requests changed, while always organizing their recommendations and clearly explaining, “This is what we recommend!” together with the reasons behind those recommendations, which gave us a great sense of reassurance. During the preparation period in particular, we consulted with them and bounced ideas back and forth many times, and their positive attitude of “Let’s give it a try first” genuinely helped us on numerous occasions.
On the day of the event, what production elements or experiences left the strongest impression on you?
The slide presentations on the 30-meter-wide screen, as well as the entrances through the entry gate and along the red carpet, were particularly memorable. No matter how elaborate a video you create, it can be difficult to see if the screen is too small, and if participants cannot see the visuals and can only listen to the audio, there is no real sense of immersion. This time, however, the screen was visible from anywhere in the venue, which allowed us to provide the experience of truly seeing and hearing it live on-site.
As for the awards ceremony, in the past there had sometimes been an assembly-line feel to the proceedings, but this time, the flow from the entry gate onto the red carpet created a presentation that made participants feel awe toward the people receiving the awards.

How did participants respond? Were there any measurable results, such as survey responses, participation rates, or social media posts?
First of all, the event participation rate was 94%. In the survey, when we asked how well participants felt they understood the concept of HAPI-KAN management, 88% responded that they understood it. When asked whether it had become clear what they could do at their own store or in their own position, 84% responded positively. When asked, “Would you like to become a HAPI-KAN Captain in the future?” 65% responded positively. It was an event with a large amount of information, but the results showed us that participants had come away with a clear sense of what they themselves could do.
What results do you feel the event achieved in relation to your original objectives?
We are already seeing positive outcomes, including posts on our internal social media platform from employees saying that they tried recreating presentations from the awards program. The more concrete results will emerge from here, so we are looking forward to seeing how store performance, sales, and customer responses change over the coming months.

Throughout this project, what kind of company did you feel GLOBAL PRODUCE was?
I think GLOBAL PRODUCE’s greatest strength is that they do not simply create events; they work together with us to give shape to our ideas and aspirations. They were able to turn ideas that were only expressed in vague words into something tangible, and they pondered together with us about how we could communicate to participants and how we could move their hearts in the way we intended. More than anything, we felt so much care and passion from them that it seemed as though they had come to love our company just as much as we do.
How would you like to develop this event in the future?
We do not see our all-employee meeting as a one-off event, but rather as a place where we can nurture TORIDOLL’s culture. Going forward, we would like to make it a place where even more employees can take center stage and share their own challenges, while also expressing appreciation and recognition for their colleagues.
We also want to create a state in which HAPI-KAN Captains are active at each workplace and their initiatives spread to new colleagues, allowing the HAPI-KAN Prosperity Cycle to continue turning naturally.
Rather than making this event the final destination, we want to develop it into a starting point for new challenges and a place that further amplifies TORIDOLL’s energy as we move toward our mission of “Fill our planet with KANDO dining experiences that will move you.”
