“Gal Shrine by JR Freight”: A Gen Z Co-Creation Event That Delivers Your Passion

A Unique Event That Delivered Feelings, Not Just Goods
“I wish it were easier to share what we love with someone.”
Did you know there was an event built around exactly that idea?
Its name was “Gal Shrine by JR Freight.” Set in Shibuya, the heart of Japanese gal culture, the event made an impression from its name alone—but its content was just as memorable.
Combining the sensibilities of Gen Z with the initiatives of a company that supports Japan’s logistics infrastructure, this immersive experience was designed around the concept of delivering feelings and passion to others. The venue was filled with engaging activities that made visitors want to participate and share their experiences.
What Was “Gal Shrine by JR Freight: Delivering Your Love”?
This experiential event was born from a co-creation project between JR Freight and members of Gen Z.
At the venue, visitors were welcomed into a space called the “Gal Shrine,” where a variety of interactive experiences centered around the themes of “love,” “passion,” and “favorite things” were offered.
Rather than simply presenting information through displays, the event encouraged visitors to actively participate. The concept of “delivering feelings” was translated into a tangible experience that guests could intuitively understand.
The message was clear: logistics is not only about transporting goods—it can also be about transporting emotions, excitement, and positive energy. Through the lens of gal culture, JR Freight introduced a fresh perspective on what it means to connect people.
The Birth of the Gal Shrine Through Co-Creation with Gen Z

The event was organized as part of “KAMOTSU UPCYCLE – A Gen Z Co-Creation Project,” a collaborative initiative between JR Freight and young creators.
For decades, JR Freight has played an essential role in supporting Japan’s economy by transporting goods nationwide. However, as a primarily B2B company, building meaningful connections with younger generations remained a challenge.
That changed through an encounter at SHIBUYA QWS, a co-creation hub located inside Shibuya Scramble Square, which led to a collaboration with CGO Dot Com.
Over approximately a year and a half of dialogue and workshops—including the company’s signature “Gal-Style Brainstorming®” sessions—a memorable idea emerged:
“JR Freight doesn’t just transport goods—it transports vibes.”
That simple yet powerful statement became the foundation of the entire project.
From there, the concept of delivering emotions and feelings was transformed into a fully immersive experience known as the Gal Shrine.
Experiences Designed to Deliver Love and Passion
The venue featured a variety of interactive experiences centered around the themes of affection, admiration, and positive feelings.
Visitors were not merely observers—they became part of the experience itself.
The “Raise Your Vibes” Prayer Experience

One of the event’s main attractions was the “Raise Your Vibes” Prayer Experience.
Visitors met one-on-one with a “Gal Shrine Maiden,” who listened to their hopes, passions, and favorite things before offering words of encouragement and a personalized blessing.
What made the experience particularly unique was the power of the language used. The gal-style communication was overflowing with positivity and affirmation, naturally lifting participants’ spirits.
The ritual concluded with everyone chanting together:
“Ready? Bye-bye bad vibes—Vibes Up!”
The combination of encouragement, humor, and energy made the experience feel completely different from a traditional shrine blessing.

Afterward, participants received a special amulet-shaped keychain created through upcycling old JR Freight uniforms.
The keepsake served as a tangible reminder of the event’s central message: delivering feelings and appreciation in a meaningful form.
The “Love & Vibes” Fortune Slip Experience (Free)

Another popular attraction was the “Love & Vibes Fortune Slip.”
Whether focused on romance, supporting a favorite idol, or simply encouraging oneself, each fortune delivered uplifting messages through a uniquely gal-inspired perspective.
The experience extended beyond simply reading the fortune.
Visitors could tie their fortune slips to a white tree installed at the venue. As more guests participated, the tree gradually became covered with colorful messages, resembling cherry blossoms in full bloom.
It was a beautiful visual representation of individual feelings coming together to create something larger and more meaningful.
Photo Spots and Social Media-Friendly Spaces

The venue also featured numerous photo opportunities designed to encourage sharing on social media.
Pink torii gates, JR Freight-branded backdrops, decorative mirrors, and vibrant installations created a distinctly gal-inspired atmosphere that visitors couldn’t resist photographing.
Interestingly, many of the photo spots were intentionally designed so that the JR Freight logo would naturally appear in visitors’ photos.
This demonstrated that the event was carefully planned not only as an on-site experience but also as a shareable story that could extend beyond the venue itself.
Comments from JR Freight and Event Outcomes
Comments from the JR Freight team highlighted that this initiative was far more than a promotional campaign—it was an experiment in creating new forms of value.
Through co-creation with Gen Z, the company successfully engaged audiences it had previously struggled to reach. At the same time, it helped broaden perceptions of what “logistics” can represent.
Visitors appeared genuinely engaged throughout the event, making it a strong example of how corporate initiatives and contemporary culture can successfully intersect.
One comment from the project team captured the spirit of the event perfectly:
“The unexpected concept of the Gal Shrine became a powerful hook, attracting everyone from younger generations to families. We were able to directly share our new challenge with people from all walks of life.
Through this project, we created meaningful connections with Gen Z through the concept of upcycling and successfully communicated our message in a fresh and effective way.
CGO Dot Com will continue raising society’s vibes through the combination of social issues and the gal mindset.”
Final Thoughts
Logistics is often associated solely with the transportation of goods.
This event challenged that perception by introducing the idea of delivering emotions and human connections alongside physical products.
Combined with the unexpected yet highly effective lens of gal culture, the result was a truly unique experience that stood out from traditional corporate initiatives.
The event also demonstrated the power of co-creation between businesses and younger generations. New ideas, fresh perspectives, and innovative forms of value can emerge when organizations are willing to engage with cultures and communities outside their usual sphere.
“Gal Shrine by JR Freight” was a compelling example of that potential—and it will be fascinating to see how similar initiatives continue to evolve in the future.
