Dragon across the World
What comes to your mind when you hear the word “dragon”?
A mysterious legendary creature? Or a terrifying monster that breathes fire?
Perhaps, each of us imagines different dragon. Even when we are talking about the same thing, the image and meaning can be changed greatly depending on the culture. To me, this is one of the most interesting parts of the culture.

Today’s article explores these cultural differences through the image of dragons. It introduces how dragons are seen in Japan, Thailand, and in Western culture.By looking at Japan and Thailand, we can see how the meaning of dragons differs even within Asia. Then, by turning to Western culture, we can discover how dragons are imagined on the other side of the world. At the end, a very special dragon of our own, Global Produce, will also be introduced.
Japan—Ryu

In Japan, dragons are often connected to water and wisdom. Rather than being monsters to defeat, they are usually seen as divine beings that control the forces of nature.
One well-known example is Ryujin, the dragon god of the sea in Japanese mythology. Japanese dragons are often illustrated with long, snake-like bodies without wings, moving gracefully through waves, clouds, or storms.
Thailand—Naga

Thai dragon, named Naga can usually be seen at Buddhist temples.
Naga is usually shown as a large serpent-like creature with a long body and scales. Its head is often looks as if it is wearing a pointed crown, giving it a majestic impression. Depending on the depiction, it may also be shown with multiple heads spreading outward.
In Thai culture, Naga is not simply a decorative figure. It is believed to protect sacred spaces and guard people from negative forces.
Western Culture—A fire breathing creature

In Western and American fantasy culture, dragons usually have a very different image from those in Japan or Thailand.
Western dragons are often shown as huge creatures with wings, horns, sharp claws, and the ability to breathe fire. In many medieval European stories, dragons were dangerous monsters that heroes had to defeat.
Dragon x Event
After exploring how dragons are imagined differently across countries and cultures, it is time to introduce Dragon Event, a special event service by GLOBAL PRODUCE.

In response to the growing interest from international companies to host the events in Japan, Dragon Event was launched. This service is designed to assist international clients to host and experience events in Japan in a way that is rich and inspiring.
Why Dragon Event?
One of the unique strengths of Dragon Event is incorporation of Japanese history, tradition, and culture into event design. For example, events can be held at unique venues with deep historical backgrounds, where guests can experience traditional performing arts and cultural elements in an authentic setting.
Another strength is the combination of the culture and the modern technology. By introducing modern technology into traditional and cultural elements, Dragon Event creates moments that feel even more impressive and powerful.

The last strength is multilingual support. Language barriers are one of the biggest concerns when planning an event in another country. To truly communicate Japanese culture and offer meaningful experiences, it is essential to understand the client’s own culture as well. GLOBAL PRODUCE has multilingual team members who can communicate smoothly with international clients and support them throughout the planning and production process.
This is our own dragon: Dragon Event.
